Join us on November 16 as we celebrate five years of Brodie Sessions, creating special musical moments for the curious and courageous minds.

For the first time ever, we will be hosting a one-day performative musical event, celebrating our five-year anniversary with friends, fans, and family.

Spanning 10 hours, the celebration will define a new social experience of music, art, performances, food, and good old fun. All of this in an extravagant atmosphere featuring some of the most coveted contemporary artists, especially picked for this day.

The fest will take place at TAP1 and will be gorgeously orchestrated by the creative studio inter.agcy who will craft five unique spatial experiences, each emphasizing a live performance and evolving with them. With homage to the Brodie Sessions, each act will be a scenographic experience where the stage will approach the guests; not vice versa.

Moses Sumney

Moses Sumney

We are ecstatic to welcome Moses Sumney and his out-of-this-world falsetto to his third-ever performance on Danish soil.

Akin to his upbringing between Southern California and Ghana, the work of Moses Sumney migrates seamlessly through genre and disciplines. As an act of duty he evades definition with technicolor self-directed videos and monochrome clothes at Fashion Weeks; with Art Rock and Black Classical; with seemingly infinite collaborators, but one staggering voice.

His albums have topped the critics’ lists of the New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, the Guardian, and Rolling Stone; his music videos lauded by SXSW, the UKMVAs, the Webby and Camerimage awards. At Brodie Five, Moses Sumney will bring his undefinable ability to fascinate to the stage, backed by his soulful August 2024 EP ‘Sophcore’.

Concert at 22:00

Squid

Squid

Restless, enigmatic, and musically stubborn. Those are some of the words the British band Squid use to describe their genre-defying magic. The recording of their 2023 sophomore album, ‘O Monolith’, pushed the development of the band’s sound from claustrophobic post-punk to something more free-flowing and spacious, making their universe expansive, evocative, and hugely varied.

Like an open conversation, the work of the non-hierarchical quintet is unmistakably music made by friends, but it’s not exclusionary – they’re inviting you in to listen with them, and we can’t wait to do just that at Brodie Five.

Concert at 20:00

Yaya Bey

Yaya Bey

Yaya Bey should be far better known than she is, writes one critic at The Observer in a review of the New York artist’s fifth studio album, Ten Fold. Culturing beauty from a hopeless place, following covid, a divorce, and the death of her rapper father Grand Daddy I.U., Bey has blessed her audience with a free-spoken and highly personal masterpiece that has met an overwhelming amount of critical acclaim. Ricocheting through genres such as R&B, reggae, soul, and hip hop, Yaya Bey will bring her unadulterated, emotional and soulful truth to the forefront when she takes the stage at Brodie Five

Concert at 18:30

ML Buch

ML Buch

The Copenhagen-based composer, producer, guitarist and vocalist Marie Louise Buch has received international acclaim under her stage name ML Buch. In her compositional practice, ML Buch sketches up her music in an almost architectural way, generating the raw material through immersion in playing and assembling as a way of triggering random magic. Having toured all over the world, her live performances reflect her love of combining 7-string electric guitars in open tunings with synthetic instruments and electronic experiments.

Concert at 17:00

Debbie Sings

Debbie Sings

With her dance-inducing, hard-hitting, punk-infused and country-flavoured club music, we are happy to welcome Debbie Sings to our birthday party, Brodie Five.

Having previously made her mark in the powerpop trio Jenny, the hyperpop phenomenon has only released a handful of singles and collabs, including with MadMoon, Jada, and The Bird – but her utterly fun and overstimulating live performances have earned plenty of praise from critics and crowds alike, and we hope to see her pack Tap1 like she did with the Apollo stage at Roskilde Festival 2023.

Concert at 23:15

Sega Bodega (DJ)

Sega Bodega (DJ)

We are thrilled to welcome music producer, singer, songwriter and DJ Sega Bodega as a special guest to Brodie Five. On the night before his sold-out performance at Hotel Cecil, Sega Bodega will be firing up the crowd as the final act of our birthday celebration.

Sega Bodega has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and precocious creative minds. He has collaborated with artists such as Charlotte Gainsbourg and Björk as well as Caroline Polachek, Shygirl, Eartheater and Arca. His impact spans music, fashion and film, soundtracking some of the most important cultural moments in recent years, as well as building a catalogue of solo releases that traverse genre, style, and composition and has marked him as a pioneer within the alternative and electronic world. Expect Sega to unite the crowd in expressive introverted ethereal mastery at Brodie Five.

Stagesicon

Five years, Five stages, Five acts

Brodie Five is a fully immersive spatial experience. Drawing inspiration from the venue's flat surroundings of football fields and industry, the raw space of TAP1 is set with dramatic and uncanny elements from an American high school stadium, merged with the glamour and extravagance of a classic American ball.

Within the concept 5 years / 5 stages / 5 acts, the creative studio inter.agcy has created five unique spatial scenarios, where elements of theater and installation art blur the boundaries between artist and audience. This adds new dimensions and surprises to the classical music experience while maintaining the intimacy and improvisation that Brodie Sessions is known for.

The venue becomes an experimental landscape of sculptural structures—a living sculpture park where each attendee becomes part of the installation. The fluid, dynamic set design shifts in sync with the event, evolving with each act and narrative. Every concert transcends the typical performance, combining lights, 360-degree experiences, energy, and objects to transform each session into a living, breathing installation.

Stage 1

Stage 1

Stage one is a compressed spatial format drawing inspiration from sports stadiums. Under the direct lights, ML Buch will perform 360 degrees in sharp shadows and foggy surfaces, while the audience can take in the experience from various heights and angles around the intimate act.

Stage 2

Stage 2

Inspired by a 2019 Indonesian weather event where the sky turned blood red due to Rayleigh scattering, stage two is a dramatic yet minimalistic setting that provides the perfect motionless atmosphere for Yaya Bey to unfold her warm and honest lyrical universe in.

Stage 3

Stage 3

Stage three is designed as a noisy and large-scale sculpture inspired by the raw and intense energy of Squid’s sound. It is a glamorous yet punk-influenced platform stage, where the band can be experienced from 360 degrees—all set in an intensely orchestrated chaos of lights, cables, and instruments.

Stage 4

Stage 4

The very visual stage four aims to mediate the performative language of Moses Sumney. With a sharp focus on Sumney's body intelligence and intentional use of movement, a layered, transparent theater installation is born—where digital effects and various materialities expand the musical experience.

Stage 5

Stage 5

Stage five takes the form of a boxing ring and incorporates glamorous theatrical elements. The stage will command attention with its brutal entrance, transforming the venue into a dynamic arena set for the high-energy electronic sound of Debbie Sings, who will take the spotlight as the last standing fighter.

Food & drinksicon

Pauli x Brodie

We didn’t just intend the celebration to be a feast for your ears and eyes, but also for your gastronomic senses. That’s why we’ve partnered with critically acclaimed Copenhagen restaurant Pauli - who received iByen’s Best Restaurant prize in 2023 - in creating a lavish lunch banquet where you will have the chance to experience their elevated and seasonal bistro-style dining in a truly special setting. Being served at 14:00, the lunch banquet will give you early access to the birthday celebration and an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes, two hours before the official event begins at 16:00. But be quick – the seating is limited.

* Please note that you need to buy a Brodie Five ticket in addition to the ticket for the lunch banquet.

“Brodie is visionary and innovative, so it made for a good fit with us; we deliver food at an extremely high quality, but without all the fuss that’s traditionally been around fine dining. We offer great service and atmosphere, but without the exalted stiffness that persisted for a long time in Copenhagen restaurants,” says chef Kieran McLaughlin who created the very autumny menu.

The menu favours the clean flavours of the Nordic cuisine with a small dash of East Asia, based on local and seasonal produce: Veggies from the farms Birkemosegård and Kiselgaarden who both grow and source organic products with Earth and your taste buds in mind; the main-course fish, halibut, sourced from the sustainable fishmonger Fiskerikajen. Pauli is also bringing a selection of natural wines paired specially for the menu.

Cinemaicon

Step into the darkness of our very own cinema, showcasing a special selection of sessions from our Brodie archive.

Over the past half-decade, Brodie has become a destination for cinema lovers and artists alike, blending the disciplines of analogue filmmaking and live performances. This year’s Brodie Five milestone event is an opportunity to dive into the journey and evolution of Brodie as our household director Jonas Bang has hand-picked his five favourite sessions throughout the years – each a testament to the power of analouge film – which will be screen in a cozy cinema on location at TAP1.

From your laptop to the silver screen, sit back and enjoy his top picks:

• ADRIANNE LENKER
• OLIVER SIM
• ICEAGE
• POSH ISOLATION (parts 1 and 2)
• BABY IN VAIN

Storeicon

Esben Weile Kjær x Brodie

For Brodie Five, multidisciplinary artist Esben Weile Kjær has created a limited birthday selection of objects intersecting souvenirs, artworks and utility items. Inspired by well-known motives and materials from everyday life and his own artistic practice, Weile Kjær has scaled down the motifs instead of his usual practice of magnifying them, further examining the concepts of false and true, high and low.

The five-object drop is the first of its kind and marks the opening of the Brodie Store and webshop, designed as an interactive, immersive 3D version of the Brodie house. The limited edition art works will be sold on sight at affordable prices during the event.
